Tips To Store Your Halloween Supplies

Halloween Supplies

Each year people purchase new Halloween decorations; this is almost as much of a guarantee as the sun coming up each morning. Each year people struggle to figure out the best way to store all of these Halloween supplies to keep them from being damaged so they can be used the next year. Because of this need there are always going to be a problem with storage and organization.

Storage Tip 1. Always look at all of your Halloween supplies before you start packing it up. If anything is in bad shape and cannot be used again, go ahead and toss it. There is no reason to save space for something that you will not be able to use again. Save yourself the trouble of packing it and unpacking it next year and go ahead and toss it out. If it is something that can be repaired, fix it before you pack it away to make sure that everything is ready to use for next year. The idea of packing everything away and then fixing what is broken usually does not work out well because most people go with the theory of out of sight, out of mind. So if you are not actively looking at the decoration that needs the repair you are most likely going to easily forget about it.

Storage Tip 2. Look into purchasing some plastic storage containers in either orange or black. The reason for these colors is because they are closely associated with Halloween. For Christmas you would want green or red, so keeping colors of your storage containers color coordinated makes it much easier to grab the containers you need when the appropriate time comes. If all of your storage containers are the same color, it can be easy to grab the wrong container and mix items up. If you must use containers that are the same color, make sure they are all clearly labeled to help avoid confusion.

Storage Tip 3. If there is no where to safely store it, pass it along. If you do not have room for it, either give it away or sell it or toss it out. You cannot usually purchase a closet or an attic stretcher, so hoping that room will appear is highly unlikely and will lead to frustration. Sticking to items that actually fit in your available storage area will keep you much happier and help reduce the amount of clutter that tries to creep its way into your house. If you are worried about losing something valuable, look around and make sure you are maximizing the storage space that your home has. Sometimes by rearranging items, you can create a lot of extra space when you thought you were tapped out.

These tips are all designed to help you get the most from your Halloween supplies and make it as easy as possible to stay organized while your collection of decorations grows each year. Remember, if it cannot be used again it must go, and if it needs a repair, you must fix it before you pack it away to avoid hassles next year. Following these simple tips will make your holiday season go much smoother each year.
